Payzone appointed as payments network option for new property tax

05 April 2013

Payzone, Ireland’s largest consumer payments network has been appointed by the Revenue Commissioners as one of its payment service providers for the new Local Property Tax (LPT), set to come into effect from 1 July, 2013.  The announcement  means that consumers have further choice and options in how they wish to make the required tax payments.

Property owners will be able to pay their property tax across the network of 2,000 Payzone branded retail outlets located throughout the country.  Payments can be made in cash payments on a weekly or monthly basis.

The appointment of Payzone as an LPT payment service provider is very much in line with the Government’s strategy to make it as easy and convenient as possible for customers to file their LPT1 return and to provide as wide a choice as possible in the payment method.

Commenting on Payzone’s appointment as a payment provider, Jim Deignan, managing director at Payzone, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by the Revenue Commissioners as one of the channels for the collection of the new Local Property Tax.  Payzone’s proven capability in meeting the technology criteria required for the service and our track record in delivering other high profile payments solutions were instrumental in being appointed. Furthermore, Payzone’s retailers play a vital role in delivering essential services to their local communities and they are becoming increasingly recognised as a destination point for all consumer needs.”

He continued: “Today’s announcement is another example which illustrates how the Payzone platform is ideally placed for a broad range of payment collection solutions for both existing and new charges and taxes.”

Revenue has now begun corresponding to residential property owners this month including an explanatory booklet on the operation of the LPT.   A Return Form LPT1 will then need to be completed by all property owners stating their property’s current market value, the property band for which the tax will be calculated and the selected payment method.

Consumers can find their nearest Payzone outlet by logging on to www.Payzone.ie.
