Payzone to help raise funds for African drought appeal.

01 September 2011

From mid September, MACE stores throughout Ireland will be collecting donations – either by selling donation cards for €2 or by collecting coins in collection boxes at MACE counters.

Through the Concern MACE appeal, much-needed funds will be raised to support Concern’s efforts to help 680,000 people who are facing starvation in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.

Fundraising Target

The fundraising target has been set at €50,000 to enable Concern to continue its work providing food, water, non food items and shelter to thousands of people on the brink of starvation.

Willie O’Brien, Managing Director of BWG outlined the motivation to support this appeal: “We are shocked by the devastation in the Horn of Africa and wanted to do something to support Concern’s fundraising efforts in the Horn of Africa. We hope that by collecting funds in the combined network of MACE outlets throughout Ireland, we will offer MACE customers a simple and convenient way to show their support. We hope that the campaign will help the African people in a meaningful way."

Jim Deignan Managing Director of Payzone added “All at Payzone Ireland are delighted to be able utilise our network of retailers to assist in the fundraising efforts which will help provide aid to the thousands effected by the drought. It is our hope that with the added convenience of donating in Payzone enabled outlets that the €50,000 target will be reached quickly. ”

Customers can make a donation by purchasing a card for €2 at the counter of your local MACE store. The donation is processed at the Payzone terminal in the store – e.g. in the same way as a mobile top up transaction. Concern and MACE would like to thank Payzone for facilitating the payment transactions for this appeal.
