Insomnia Coffee Company launches contactless payment terminals

15 November 2012

Insomnia customers will now be able to wave their contactless payment card in front of the terminal and pay for a cup of coffee in less than a second!

Contactless payment cards can be used for transactions up to €15 without the need for a PIN. Contactless technology reduces transaction time and means less queuing for customers and more time to enjoy that steaming hot cup of coffee.

Commenting on the launch of the card, Bobby Kerr, Chairman of Insomnia Coffee Company, said: “Insomnia customers want to get their morning coffee quickly and Payzone’s new contactless payment terminals shorten the transaction time considerably. The majority of transactions in Insomnia are under €15 so this is a service we believe will be very popular with our customers. We are rolling out the new contactless payment terminals across all our High Street store outlets nationwide over the next few weeks so Insomnia customers will be able to avail of the service in any of our High Street coffee shops.’

Jim Deignan, Managing Director, Payzone, said: ‘Payzone provides payment solutions across a range of products and services. We are moving rapidly towards a cashless society and Payzone offers the technology to support that.”
