Using the Payzone terminal for credit and debit card transactions
Credit and debit card processing is available across a range of Payzone terminals.
Please read through the following details on how to process a transaction.
Credit & debit card transactions
All normal credit/debit transactions can be started by inserting the credit/debit card into the front slot of the terminal.
Contactless transactions
- Enter the transaction amount
- Press Enter
- Tap the card on the screen.
Please note that there is a limit of €50 for contactless card transactions.
Apple/Android Pay transactions
- Enter amount
- Press enter and request the customer to hold their phone over terminal screen.
Manual Sale
Press menu button and then F1 for sale.
Refund
Press menu button and then F2 for refund.
Mail-Order
Press menu button then F3 for mail-order
For dual terminals (debit/credit and other services), you must access the menu followed by A40 to complete the functions above.
Reports
- The F4 key can be selected for reports (the password for this function is 01483)
- For dual terminals (credit/debit card and other services), you must access the menu followed by A40 and then press A4 for reports
- N.B* - AIB Merchant Services currently settles all previous day's transactions at 2 am every morning, the End of Day (S) report should be processed after each business day to make reconciliation easier. If a settlement is not performed for a period of time, the bank will still process the transactions daily.
Duplicate receipts
- To print a duplicate of a receipt of the last credit/debit card transaction, press the menu button twice then F2
- For dual terminals (credit/debit card and other services), you must access the menu again followed by A40, press menu again and then press F2 for a duplicate receipt.
Can't connect' error message
- Check the three display boxes on the top of the screen. If outlined in white or red, it is a broadband issue
- If this is the case, disconnect power from the terminal and remove the ETH (broadband) cable. Reboot your broadband
- When your broadband has rebooted and is giving out a solid signal, reconnect power to the terminal and re-align the ETH (broadband) cable
- If the three boxes are green and there is still no connection, please call our Helpdesk on 1890 882 600.
Batches and transactions
- Unfortunately, we do not have visibility of individual transactions and batches.

Replacing receipt rolls
- If your terminal runs out of paper, simply pull the lid located above the screen towards you
- Remove the empty cartilage and replace it with a new roll
- Place till roll end facing away from you.
- Close the lid.
Running out of paper mid-transaction
- When you run out of paper mid-transaction first replace the till roll, then press the menu button twice and press F2
- This will reprint the receipt for the transaction.
