At Payzone, we are committed to building a sustainable, inclusive, and thriving business that positively impacts our environment, society, and governance. Through our chosen SDG framework (Sustainable Development Goals), we focus on promoting good health and wellbeing, gender equality, sustainable cities and communities, and climate action. Everything we do aligns with these four goals and connects to the three pillars of ESG.

We aim to integrate responsible practices at the core of our business. 

Our objectives are to:

  • Actively contribute to the well-being of communities and cities by supporting charities and facilitating mobility solutions.
  • Take action to reduce our environmental footprint and promote sustainability.

What are we doing to achieve it?

1. Good health & wellbeing (SDG 3)

Our goal is to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.

Initiatives:

  • Payzone social club: Offering employees a chance to unwind and build connections through social events.
  • Health-focused activities: Hosting mindfullness and stress management courses and talks. 
  • Internal communications: Keeping employees engaged through Payzone Pulse, which celebrates internal successes.
  • Cost of living adjustments: Providing annual salary increases to help employees cope with inflation.

2. Gender equality (SDG 5)

We are committed to achieving gender equality by 2030, embedding it as a core value of our business.

Initiatives:

  • Gender pay gap reviews: Ensuring fair pay across the company.
  • Leadership representation: Aiming for a gender-balanced board and supporting women in leadership.
  • Family support: Offering maternity, paternity, and parental leave with no career impact.
  • Skill development: Leadership courses & programmes for growth.
  • Inclusive hiring: Partnering with DCU for diverse recruitment.
  • Governance: Upholding integrity with our Code of Conduct, Speak Up, and Health & Safety policies.

3. Sustainable cities & communities (SDG 11)

Payzone actively supports sustainable cities and communities through our services and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Initiatives:

  • Charitable giving: We have donated over €70,000 to worthwhile causes, providing logistical support and advice to partner charities.
  • Staff volunteering: Encouraging our employees to give back by volunteering with local charities.

4. Climate action (SDG 13)

We are committed to combating climate change through a focus on adaptation, mitigation, and education. We aim to reduce our carbon footprint and encourage sustainable practices in our operations.

Initiatives:

  • Mobility services: Promoting sustainable mobility options through the Payzone app, which offers access to various shared mobility services.
  • Sustainable reps: Our sales team travels using electric vehicles to reduce our environmental impact.
